A house of masters
Karmel Rugs grows from a craft that has stayed in the same hands for more than 40 years. Masters trained in the Persian rug tradition, who learned to wash, knot and repair by watching those who came before them.
In that time, fine silks, wools from the great Persian workshops, everyday kilims and pieces a family has kept for generations have all passed through their hands. Each one taught something. That is why we never treat two rugs the same way.
We work in our own workshop, with an industrial automatic washer, an industrial centrifuge and controlled drying. The machine does well what a machine should do. The rest is decided by the master: when a piece must be washed by hand, which dye needs more care, which fringe can be saved and which is better rewoven.
Heirlooms, cared for by masters
Many of the rugs we receive were never bought. They were inherited. They arrive with history, with the marks of a home and a life. Our work is to return them clean and sound, without erasing what makes them yours.
That is why we document every step, photograph every piece on arrival and on departure, and give you a code to follow it. That is why we collect and deliver at your home, with discreet staff and on the agreed date. And that is why we tell you honestly when a restoration is worth it and when it is not.
We attend you from Sunday to Friday, on WhatsApp, serving families in Polanco, Las Lomas, Interlomas and the west of the city.
